[FAQ ID: 224]How to check the connections of your network components on the Router

Suitable for: 300Mbps Wireless N Routers, 150Mbps Wireless N Routers, N750 Wireless Dual Band Routers, N600 Wireless Dual Band Routers, N900 Wireless Dual Band Routers

For instance, if you want to check the connection of the www.tp-link.com , you can achieve it through Diagnostic.
 
Step 1
Open the web browser and type http://tplinklogin.net or IP address in the address bar (default is http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 ). Press Enter.
 
Step 2
Type the username and password in the login page, the default username and password are both admin in lower case.
 
Step 3
Click the System Tools on left and go to Diagnostic.
 
Step 4
Select one of the diagnostic tools: Ping or Traceroute .
Note: Ping troubleshoots connectivity, reachability, and name resolution to a given host or gateway. Traceroute reflects the path taken to a given host. You can use ping and Traceroute to test both numeric IP address or domain name.
 
Ping:
Step 5
Select the diagnostic tool: Ping.
 
Step 6
Type the IP Address/Domain name of the PC/server you want to ping in the IP Address/ Domain Name.
 
Step 7
Click Start  to start the diagnose. The following result indicates the connection is ok.
 
Note:
If ping the IP address is successful while pinging the domain name is not, you may get a DNS problem.
 
Traceroute:
Step 8
Select the diagnostic tool: Traceroute.
 
Step 9
Type the IP Address/Domain name of the PC/server you wish to traceroute in the IP Address/ Domain Name.
 
Step 10
Click Start to start diagnosing. The following result indicates the  connection is ok.
 
Note:
When the trace is completed and the IP address in the end of the result mismatches the IP address of the server, as follows:
 
You can change the TTL (default is 20) in the Traceroute Max TTL. And try again.
